I have been using Evangers for rescued cats and recently wildlife wihout any issues. They have been the most responsive company whenever I have had questions.

It is my understanding that "botulism" is an issue with respect to any canning facility.

It is also my understanding that in 75 years Evangers has NEVER had a recall of their petfood.

Please note this current problem IS NOT A RECALL.

Via telephone, a rep of Evangers told me this is a bookkeeping issue where the night shift failed to record the time change when they produced a new batch of food after 12 a.m.

My feeling is the FDA is doing what they should have done during the previous "pet food crisis" -

Consider yourself lucky. My dogs are fighting for their very lives right now, and have been in the emergency hospital since last night. AT 515 they split a can, at 540 we were racing to the vet. Their systems essentially shut down, they couldnt stand, and pretty soon, they were almost comatose. My little guy, 10 pounder, is still pretty much at that stage. Its heartbreaking and, Evangers has yet to return my calls or email...

My dogs almost died after eating the chunks of beef and the can is on its way to the Univ of MI toxicologist courtesy of the emergency animal clinic which brought my two pomeranians through this nightmare. We called Evangers, they hung up on us, yet posted they did no such thing. I left four messages and sent two emails. Now, THAT is a company that really cares about its customers-our pets. This is more than a matter of bookkeeping, this is the pinto defense--no one died, so why worry?
